Catarina Mota – Founder, OpenMaterials, Phil Hettema – Founder, The Hettema Group, Gus Stone – Creative Director & Designer Paint By Numbers, Rob Kirk – Co-Founder, Digital Ranch, Christen Buchanan – Electrical Engineer JPL, Linda Abrams – President, L.A.Marketing,  Teri Thompson, Social Media Strategist, Graciela Italiano-Thomas, International Education Consultant, Emily Aiken – Founder, The Story Studio, Andy Lipkis – Founder, Tree People, Scott Murray – Murray Farms

One of the major insights to come out of the charette was the One Day concept which is an underlying theme of our work, based on the extreme manufacturing that we are pioneering in the form of One-day Production runs. One day, we will have achieved the open source economy…

Dec 18th 2012 was a momentous day for us –  when we achieved the one day production of our automated CEB press. We now aim to crazy-optimize the production of each of the 50 GVCS machines to a single day of production. Our methods are hypermodularity, simplicity of design, and digital fabrication, combined with a core value proposition of 100% open source design. Based on these results, I feel proud that OSE received distinction as Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of the Year in 2012.

Other noteworthy results from the meeting:
1. Initial discussion on open source tractor and microcombine pilot project with Scott Murray (above), organic farmer, entrepreneur, and pioneer in the organic movement, who is now building out several agriculture demonstration projects on the 10 acre scale.
2. Potential link to open source tractor pilot project in Uruguay.

All in all, it was a great session full of productive discussions and valuable lessons. (Thank you for putting this together Emily.)
