High quality block depends on soil processing. Soil conditioner/mixer should be used for getting quality high. In order to foster the local economy, the model is to rebirth local enterprise she ch is high on skill and efficiency, but lean on organizational structure to make it an enjoyable livelihood - with the goal of advancing civilization surplus for supporting higher endeavors. This would require 100% waterproof block using local charcoal to fire the lime as a stabilizer. One important energy point would be determining which route is more energy efficient - stabilized block or fired brick. It appears that the brick firing is a more energy intensive process, especially if it were to be be done on a continuous basis. Further, it appears that high quality clays may not be accessed ubiquitously without serious quality control on the starting clay, whereas CEB accepts a wider range of soils.

All together, it appears that fielded brick are a larger scale and more energy intensive process, and real numbers should be obtained to quantify this, based on reports that must be surely available.

Firing brick using continuous production of burned and powdered lime is an excellent on-site route to permanent housing, using zero remote resources compared to portland cement.

This would allow for the CEB pavers for patios and driveways, as is undelivered by the promise of CEB, whrere block sells for $2 for 1/2 square foot.
