FB Post-Open Source Eco-Tractor Developer This year we are building an open source remote control ecotractor powered by charcoal and solar power. We will be building another charcoal gasifier. We will be building a continuous charcoal maker using an arduino microcontroller for timing, based on temperature readings to indicated finished burn. We are actually planning on wood pellets for now, to make things easier. Sign up as an OSE Developer to collaborate with us on this as a volunteer remote developer. This is a serious commitment though - a 90 day development cycle requiring 10 hours of volunteer time per week. But the reward would be a decent open source product. We are building a high-performing team - not necessarily superstars - but team players who can work well together, and get clearly visible results. We would teach you FreeCAD, the open source design software, which you can get basic proficiency in within 20 hours, faster if you have prior CAD experience. http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OSE_Developers

Joel,

This year we are building an open source remote control ecotractor powered by charcoal, so we will be building another charcoal gasifier. We would like to improve on your charoal maker design simply by using a controller for timing, based on temperature readings to indicated finished burn. We are actually planning on wood pellets for now, to make things easier.

Have you thought about this any more? Do you think with your design - with heavier duty drive with a hydraulic motor (using a slow solar powered hydraulic unit) - can be automated?

Would you be interested in joining our Development Team for a 90 day development cycle? This is a serious commitment though, requiring 10 hours of volunteer time per week. But the reward would be a decent open source product. We are building a high-performing team - not necessarily superstars - but team players who can work well together, and get clearly visible results. We would teach you FreeCAD, the open source design software, which you can get basic proficiency in within 20 hours, faster if you have prior CAD experience.

Emailed Nate Villarreal from the aquaponics workshop -

Ok. Can you help recruit? Here is a sample posting:

https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp2652989.jsp

We have a list of universities to recruit graduating students who want to give back:

http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/HR_Recruitment_Channels

Find a Volunteer Opportunities posting venue at the university.

Put your name next to the University if you posted, and include a link to that posting. You can set up an account under your name, you can link to http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OSE_Developers for people to find more info and to fill out an application.

Can you do this? Each posting should take 20 minutes of your time. We need to build the team - I want to get to 100 people by next year.

Excellent work on FreeCAD instructionals. We've put together a couple of very tightly edited FreeCAD videos - see our first - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwcFg-anVHE

and would like to see if you are interested in collaborating on the 3rd video in that series. I would like to cover Exploded Part Animations in this video. We would be demonstrating this on our freely downloadable, OSE Linux, Ubuntu-based distribution. Are you interested in collaborating on a script + video? Please email me at marcin@opensourceecology.org.

Hi Michael Moon,

We designed our own 3D printer, D3D - and want to fine tune the printing. It seems like you have a bit of experience in this. See the video on top of:

http://openbuildinginstitute.org/portfolio/3d-printer-construction-set-workshop/

That means we settle on specific software and design profiles for various instances of use - whether MK8 extruder, E3D, E3D Volcano - etc. So that we have all the cases covered and optimized. Right now we started with MK8 as in our BOM.

We are aiming for the most widely replicated 3d printer system in the world, even larger than the Prusa due to the scalability and modularity of D3D.

Can you help us write a calibration guide specifically to our printer Construction Set? Are you familiar with Cura and Pronterface? Do you have the time or interest to join our dev team to make this happen? See more about OSE Developers - http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OSE_Developers

Andrew, I'd also like to ask you if you can join as an official OSE Developer.

Thanks, Marcin
