  • Old workshop clean up/clean out.
  • Took hopper and grate out to microhouse site.
  • Continued working on the pool installation (pump and filter).
  • Moved dirt and helped press bricks.

  • Helped with pool installation (installed lining and upper ring).

Mon July 21, 2014

  • Brick Press --> remove hopper, shaker, and grate
  • Press bricks and tested measurements for consistency, soil tests.
  • Helped with pool installation (aluminum sides).

Thurs July 17, 2014

  • Soil research for compressed earth brick composition.
  • Covered the hydraulic hoses on the new CEB press in fire hoses to protect them. Swapped hydraulic hoses for hoses of more appropriate lengths so they don't drag on the floor.

  • Finalization of the Solenoid module and attachment assembly.
  • Overall assembly/documentation.

  • Worked on the PowerCube instruction manual for the Pump Module.
  • Worked on a social media graphic to promote the Microhouse build (15 days away!).

  • Worked on workshop organization. Brought tools from the Hablab area back to the workshop and began organizing screws.

Mon July 7, 2014

  • Worked on the outdoor kitchen/pavilion design. (Guest seating for 48 people, post and beam)
  • Printed the potluck flyer for July 11, 2014 and distributed flyers around Maysville.

Sun July 6, 2014

  • MicroCube workshop build!
  • Continued work with Edo on the control Panel. We measured and drilled the holes to mount the throttle, hydraulics and engine key. Began assembly and documentation of the overall module.
  • Made Solenoid mount.
  • Hablab swarm clean at the end of the day.

  • Began instruction manuals for the MicroCube in preparation for the MicroCube workshop.
  • MicroCube workshop introduction and welding and grinding lessons.
  • Fourth of July bonfire!!

  • Day off to rest before the powercube workshop. Trip to St. Joseph to prepare for the Fourth of July celebration.

  • Learned how to drive the lifetrac tractor.
  • Helped reassemble the existing brickpress (installed hydraulic hoses) and soil pulvilizer (fabricated mounting plate for the motor) for soil testing in preparation for the microhouse build.
  • Designed flyer for the July 11 community potluck at Factor E Farm.

Tues July 1, 2014

  • Worked on a section drawing for the new MicroHouse (designed by Curtis Calkins).
  • Tested on-site soil and soil stabilization methods for local soil composition in preparation for pressing bricks for the MicroHouse build.

  • Second day bringing the brick press to the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair at the MREA in Custer, WI.
  • Pressed bricks as an exhibition at the fair.

  • Helped with final assembly of the brick press.
  • Prepared soil for pressing bricks.

  • Third day of the CEB 6 brick press workshop at the Midstate Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
  • Finished the attachment piece for the Solenoid module.
  • Helped with overall brick press assembly and documentation.

  • Took inventory of brick press steel, materials and tools.
  • Loaded the van and drove to Custer, Wisconsin for the brick press workshop.

  • Tested 3-d printing a full scale (2540%) model of the male bushing clampshell on the TAZ LULZBOT printer with ABS at an infill density of 0.8, Nozzle size .5 mm, and height 0.5 mm. Also manually raised the z-stop slightly. Successful print!

  • Tested 3-d printing a quarter scale model of the male bushing clampshell on the TAZ LULZBOT printer with ABS at an infill density of 0.3.
  • Helped assemble the metal frame of the pool.

Tues Jun 10, 2014

  • Installed a plug-in on sketchup to export files as .stl files.
  • Converted .stl files to .gcode files (through slic3r) to prepare them to print on the LULZBOT 3-D printer.
  • (testing at slic3r settings> Infill> Fill Density> .05)
  • 3-D printed the Minimug with PLA.
  • Viewed .stl files to check measurements in meshlab.
