General Safety Notes

- Powerful tools can easily cut and burn soft tissue
- Protect yourself from harm, point out unsafe practices to others or to OSE personnel
Shop Safety - Know where these are:
- First Aid Kit
- Emergency Contact
- Electric panel
- Fire Extinguishers
Personal Safety Equipment
Available Equipment:
- Helmets
- Eye Protection
- Hearing Protection
- Gloves
Required:
- Steel toe boots with leather uppers (plastic & fabric melt)
Recommended:
- Shirt - Long sleeve, preferably cotton/non-flammable
- Pants - Long legs, preferably cotton/non-flammable
Tool Safety (Show and Tell)
- Abrasive Saw
- Sparks will fly
- Blade is abrasive (careful not to touch)
- Steel will be hot and may have sharp edges after cutting
- Angle Grinder
- Sparks will fly - don't point them at anyone
- Blade cuts instantly
- Hot steel after grinding
- Torque when starting/stopping - Use caution while spinning
- Oxy Acetylene Torch
- Tank / hose placement
- Open valves, strike flame
