Rebar: widely available, inexpensive material for greenhouse support.

Rebar is a versatile, widely available, inexpensive building material. It can be used for structural support of a greenhouse. A greenhouse frame made of rebar can be very strong if the framework is welded and uses lots of cross bracing. Rebar takes some effort or special saw blades to cut. It is easy to bend into larger arched shapes, but difficult to bend short sections into 90° angles. Dismantling and reassembly of a welded rebar greenhouse can be more difficult than for comparable types, such as PVC greenhouse. One advantage of rebar is that its small diameter blocks little light. Rebar has grooves, which could abrade regular polyethylene or other covering. Rusting is a potential problem.
