Stephen Whiting Dedicated Project Visit

From Open Source Ecology

I am interested in participating in a Dedicated Project Visit with Open Source Ecology. I am currently a junior studying Mechanical Engineering at University of California, Berkeley with an interest in sustainable design and urban agriculture. I want to learn about sustainable infrastructures and believe that working with OSE would a great opportunity. I would like to gain experience in an agricultural setting as well as further develop my engineering skill set. My contact information is as follows:

Stephen Whiting Berkeley, California whiting.stephen@gmail.com 858.699.6899 Skype handle: whiting.stephen

I would like to participate in a either the entire summer build or a month long DPV during the summer of 2014 (June 1, 2014 - August 15, 2014).

I'm still learning how to edit wiki pages so I'm not sure how to post my resume. I have attached it in an email.

I am completely willing to publish all results according to OSE Open IP Guidelines.

I have limited resources and would be interested in living in a cooperative setting, although I would also be able to support myself if necessary. I have lived and worked at the Berkeley Student Cooperative for over a year, and would be a great addition to the community.

I have many relevant skills including but not limited to CADing experience, machine shop experience including lathe, 3-axis mill, FDM printing, and water jet machining. I am also adept at Matlab, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere. I am also committed to the spirit of OSE and am extremely excited to further distribute the means of production. I would be interested in general support and am willing to work on any current project.

I would be interested in learning more about agriculture and the processes involved with food cultivation. I am also interested to learn how to weld, as well as practice working with open source hardware such as arduinos.

I learned about OSE through Marcin Jakubowski's TED talk.
