buttons

momentary toggle switches could be an option instead of momentary buttons

a 6 connection swtich could allow 5V to swtich signal to arduino while operating 12V simultaniously

cable glands

These are the best cable glands for Cat6 cable -> https://www.grainger.com/product/HUBBELL-WIRING-DEVICE-KELLEMS-Nylon-Cable-Connector-2DPF8

but nuts are sold seperately. see BOM. also, might find some 1/2" rubber washers to use with... other brands include them.

  • 1/4" blade style terminal disconnects wont fit though cable gland hole.
  • 3/16" blade style insulated terminals wont fit thought cable gland hole.
    • will have to make up cat6 cable with gland on wire
    • going to check on round terminal sizes

wire gauge options

Cat6 cable = 8 strands of 23 gauge

2 strangs of 23 gauge have approx the same cross section as 1 stand of 20 gauge

3 strangs of 23 gauge have approx the same cross section as 1 stand of 18 gauge

a "22-18" terminal connector can fit no more than one 20 gauge+one 18 gauge wire at once

based on this i think its best to run a 18 gauge from the cat6 to the main power switch and then a 20 gauge to the "auto" switch. will also look for a larger gauge 3/16" terminal conector. --Dorkmo (talk) 05:31, 6 October 2017 (CEST)
