Role Description

  • Responsible for managing technical contributions from a broad range of Open Source Ecology stakeholders - designers, fabricators, builders, architects, engineers, videographers, technical writers, students, and others
  • Leverages technical contributions from global community to augment the design/protyping/build efforts of the Product Lead
  • Maintains good community relations to facilitate contributions
  • Assists ED in streamlining a process for effective talent capture from a large pool of contributors by developing effective protocols and innovative tools
  • Assists ED in developing a scalable, replicable, open source product development process
  • Maintains and Updates OSE Community Handbook, a guide for remote collaborators
  • Feeds contributor output to Documentation Manager and Product Lead
  • Recruits, negotiates and formalizes participation of remote contributors
  • Reports to Operations Manager
  • Maintains a contributor database
  • Organizes special events, hackathons, Flash Mobs, and other Crowd Design and Manufacturing sessions

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of community management experience
  • Experience in interviewing
  • Excellent communication in written, verbal, email, and video forms
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Keen ability to identify, develop, and leverage talent from a global community
  • Excellent mentorship and team building skills
  • Track record of community and humanitarian service
  • Extensive experience with project management software
  • Extensive experience with database management
  • Engineering management experience is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Willingness to use Linux as the computer platform for OSE work
