Below is my running list of things missing from the Global Village Construction Kit which I believe are need for a functional village, but are not included in this wiki (yet).
Mostly these are things I have searched for, and am kind of depressed there is no page for. As a non-contributor, I was not comfortable making pages for these, since I assume they will be not maintained or updated.
Things This Village Is Missing That Make Me Cry
- Sewing Machine - Seriously. Working on a CNC Mill is no fun naked.
- Washing Machine - Also seriously. One of the most labor-saving devices in America.
- Loom - Working on a CNC Mill is no fun naked. Like I said
- Clayworks - Tools for Jar/Pot/Dishware arts Clay throwing, firing
- Glasswork (Dishware, Windows, etc)
- Leather/Plastic work tools - For durables like Leather or stiff plastics.
- Grain Mill - This one makes me want to cry. Tractor? Check. Baler/Thresher? Check. Bread Oven? Check. A way to turn grain into flour for the bread oven? Nope.
Feel free to add to this, my personal list of overlooked (and mayhaps unsexy) technologies needed to keep a sustainable village running.
Toys for Boys
Hello Far McKon! I liked your comment at Talk:Global Village Construction Set#Toys. I love the OSE project very much and I am very enthusiastic about it. I am also a True Fan and I already made sizable donations for the project. But I think the project is not designed with efficiency in mind. Creating some home appliances would make the project to be extremely successful in a very short time. It would bring a lot of needed cash in a very short time and it would make the project known to almost everyone in the world. Almost every family in this world needs a washing machine, a refrigerator, a stove, etc. I expressed my opinion at Talk:Rollout Plan#The plan is not efficient! discussion page and on the forum at Open source home appliances thread. I was thinking, in case we feel similar, maybe we can have some useful chat about the issue. Thanks. Gonzo 21:28, 25 February 2012 (CET)
I just made another forum thread at Is the plan really efficient? talking specifically about how efficient is the rollout plan. Gonzo 22:32, 25 February 2012 (CET)
