Acetate is any molecule derived from acetic acid. Acetates include the salts and esters of acetic acid and have a variety of applications with modifying other molecules.

Acetate could be an important plasticizer and conmonomer for OSE bioplastics. It would be the most approachable comonomer for cellulose films.
