Appropriate Technosphere

It may be said that appropriate modern technology - which includes heirloom technology as relevant in the digital age - is a critical enabler of democratic society. Thus, it is important to get technology right prior to a hope of mass adoption of human enlightenment. Some of the tasks in this order include:

  1. Getting standards proliferation under control - Simply put, technology should serve people - people should not serve technology. Special interests and specialization indicates that there are hundreds of choices, for example, for nails, some not being compatible with other nail guns, etc. About a 10x redundancy and waste calls for a radical revisit of the waste issue. OSE calls for Degeneracy to one standard for every function, thereby eliminating 10x in competitive waste. Competing standards arose for historical, economic, and political reasons. Large choice is great for manufacturers - not for users - and thus fails the basic test of Collaborative Literacy. This should be revisited as society goes forward, in order to save time and allow people to use their time according to their choice, not according to what the technosphere demands of people.
