CNC Machine Dust Control
Contents
Basics
- This Page Goes Over Control of Dust (and to a certain degree Metal Chips ) in the context of CNC Machines
- This page covers FDM 3D Printer , but the main concern is for the Subtractive Manufacturing machines due to their dust creating nature
FDM 3D Printers
- As Stated in FDM 3D Printer Maintenance occasional cleaning by wiping should be sufficient
- Unless a setup capable of ASMBL is used in which case the CNC Router/Mill Section of this page applies
CNC Mills and CNC Routers
- Sawdust can be managed via a combination of Vacuum Dust Collection and/or Compressed Air (Although the Rules for Cleaning with Compressed Air should still be followed obviously)
- Also Protective Covers such as Bellows can be used to protect the Leadscrews / Ballscrews and whatever Linear Bearing is used
Explosive Dust Considerations
- At what point should Sawdust etc be viewed as an explosive dust?
- This needs addressing
