Inset Foundation

Seed Eco-Home 1 used a stem wall foundation.

Seed Eco-Home 2 used a mudsill anchor foundation with inset concrete.

We removed the inset concrete in Seed Eco-Home 4 and 5 - but got in trouble with flashing the foundation insulation.

Seed Eco-Home 6 will use an inset foundation and post-pour drilled anchors. This allows us to run the foundation insulation flashing straight down from wall OSB, not a 45 degree angled design pf v4 - which is harder to make and much more fussy. (It took 14:20 hours to install the flashing last time, though this included putting in spacers up to 1.5" due to an uneven foundation on West side [1])
