My name is Mathias Haingartner, from Austria I am 22 years old and currently studying Mechatronics for the 6th semester at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz (Austria). My contact info is included in my initial contact mail sent to techcommunity@opensourceecology.org

Availability

I would like to work for about a month during summer break, possibly between middle of August and end of September 2014 as the semester is starting again on October 1st.

Education and work experience

After graduating high school (BG/BRG Knittelfeld) I spent my alternative civilian service working for the Red Cross as a paramedic (Rettungssanitäter) for nine months. After that I started studying Mechatronics at JKU Linz in 2011.

In 2008 and 2009 I spent a month each doing an internship at NTC-Weiz a research facility working on fundamental research about Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs). The last two years I worked as a leased laborer during summer break doing work like building falling-object protective systems for a highway and repairing lubrication lines for VOEST-Alpine.

I participated in a project called "Technik Erleben" to teach high school students between the age of 11 and 13 about robotics by using LEGO-Mindstorms. During the workshops the kids got to know the basics of robotics and where able to solve little problems, like how to follow a line. As a result the kids then participated in the First Lego League Challenge.

Sample Work

After reading an article about the RepRap-Project I built a Mendel Prusa–3D-Printer at the age of seventeen. Currently, I am working on my Bachelor Thesis about the development of a low-cost, open source 3D metal printer.

As part of a course I took last semester, I re-implemented the OSE backhoe (version 3) using Creo Parametric 2.0 (formerly known as ProEngineer) including some small FE analyzes on the bucket.

My 3D-Printer

Skills I have to offer

Anything and everything you are willing to teach me

Declarations

I am willing to publish all the results of my work openly according to the OSE Open IP Guidelines and I have the resources to support myself while volunteering.

I first heard about OSE through Marcin’s TED talk.

I emailed my references directly to TechCommunity@opensourceecology.org.
