Open Source Fuels Construction Set Conceptual Design

Basics

• This page is for the Conceptual Design of the Open Source Fuels Construction Set
• Mainly Plotting on Dimentions, Connectors, and Enviromental Hardening

Dimentions

• Thinking 25cm cube for base "unit" with 1, 2.5, or 5cm for the borders between everything
• Just like with OpenRack etc there can be "double wide" or 2U etc units
  • For instance a "double size" powercube module
• Assuming 25cm, and a multi tank fluids module (see the misc section below) :
  • A Single Engine, Single Fuel, Single Combined Unit would be slightly more than 75cm, 95cm with 5cm gaps? All less than 1 meter
• Compact Cars, accodrding to a quick search:
  • are usually 4.1-4.3 meters long, 1.4-1.5 meters high, and 1.7-1.8 meters wide.
• Thus that seems do-able?
• Also the rack could be "stacked" for 2x of everything or some tweaked build etc, but no more horizontal space

Connectors

• Need to determine standards for everything
• Also will probably need to develop a locking mechanism for the slots

Enviromental Hardening

• Aerospace Grade etc

Misc

• Make a merged tank for all the fluids (would require more ports/more complex port layout)
  • Hydraulic Fluid
  • Lubricating Oil
  • Coolant Fluid
  • DEF (potentially depends on how much is needed)
