Psudo-Non Profit
Basics
- A Non Profit that still makes profit, but does accounting in such a way that they can appear to be making no profit
- Mainly an issue of lack of Oversight / Transparency
- This may be helped via the Open Budgeting Standard , existing similar things, and future government / multi-state action along these lines
- Also probably merging this with critiques of "philanthropy" / a "pseudo-non profit" page

- A Video by the News Show " Last Week Tonight with John Oliver " Titled "Televangelists" (It essentially goes over cases wherein churches (a type on non profit, under USA law) are used to enrich the owners) (They went so far as to file the paperwork for and (for a short period) run "Our Lady of Perpetual Tax Exemption", before donating the money raised to Doctors Without Borders)
- A Tedx Talk at TEDxIEMadrid by "Diana Ruano" Titled "Bursting the bubble of non-profits"

- An interesting (albeit biased?) look into Bill Gates's Charity ( Mentioned how the Oxford vaccine was going to be open sourced , but due to pressure by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was sold to AstraZeneca)
- The article they referenced
- "It signed an exclusive vaccine deal with AstraZeneca that gave the pharmaceutical giant sole rights and no guarantee of low prices—with the less-publicized potential for Oxford to eventually make millions from the deal and win plenty of prestige."
- It is interesting (albeit in a tragic way) in that this may make more people understand the harm closed sourcing of stuff can cause
