SUPPORTED COLLABORATORIUM INTRODUCTION TEMPLATE - 2012

Who Are You and Please Share Something Interesting About Yourself

Hi, my name is Marcin, and I am excited to be nurtured here. I got a unicycle for my 40th birthday last month, as a friend found out that I used to be a semi-professional unicycle rider.

What Work Are You Engaged In?

My work is developing the open source economy – economy that optimized both production and distribution.

Why? (Why Does Your Work Matter to You?)

I do this work because I believe that most global problems are caused by artificial material scarcity, and I believe that open source economies are a solution – and therefore a route to autonomy, happinesss, and purpose.

What would be the ideal outcome of your work in the world?

My ideal outcome is creating a meaningful platform where products and services are developed openly, as people move from competition to intrinsic motivation and pursuit of higher purpose in their economic life.

What are your top two challenges & accomplishments? What is it that keeps you going?

My top 2 challenges are building a solid team + managing my commitments so that I am accountable to delivering stated results. My 2 greatest accomplishments are becoming a TED Senior Fellow and a Shuttleworth Fellow, and generating about $1/2M for the project over the second half of last year – up from a $2k/month budget before TED.

What keeps me going is the peace that I get when I know that what I am doing matters – knowing that I am working on a deep and lasting solution for a better world.

What do you hope to receive in the Collaboratorium to help you achieve your ideal outcome & help you through challenging times?

I am hoping to get my mind around a rigorous enterprise plan that takes my work from vision to institution. I am hoping to find a business mentor and people for our Board of Directors.
