On the note of Russian Oil/Gas Embargos etc, i was thinking of Biocrude (mainly from HTL of Algae ) the other day, as well as all sorts of other things that would aid in energy independence like Replacements for Gas Forced Air Heating to reduce Demand in Europe for Natural Gas , Solar/Wind/Geothermal/Hydro etc, and i thought it would be neat to crunch the numbers to see how much area would be needed to be devoted to Raceway Ponds (if using that almost outdated!, but proven technology instead of Porous Substrate Photobioreactors / Rotating Algal Biofilm Reactors etc) and the design/construction time to set up some sort of HTL Plant . Also Anaerobic Digestion of Wastewater at the wastewater treatment plant level and at all sources of Agricultural Wastewater, as well as making Landfill Gas systems mandatory in all remaining landfills (only USA context really, The EU has a better, albeit still flawed in some ways, Municipal Solid Waste Strategy ) could produce a significant amount of RNG via a Biogas Upgrader which could all be shipped off to LNG Terminals etc

Granted it is curious how The GOP, Fox News, and the like hated renewable energy / any major action for it (Carbon Taxation , Subsidies, Green New Deal (Which was just a two page or so proposal to do something, not even a formal plan!) ). Even if they don't believe in / care about Climate Change , one would think the Energy Independence aspect would "make their ears perk up", but no it's CoMunISm etc. Yet once it is in the interest of the Tar Sands / Shale Oil + Shale Gas / Tight Gas industries it is imperative that we have more permits for energy independence!

To be clear i am 100% behind cutting off Oil/Gas Trade with Russia (Although the issues of Impact of Sanctions on Civilians as well as Just Transition for all the People Employed by the Fossil Fuel Industry need to be considered i guess, but that changes the how more than the goal i guess), i just find how the aforementioned groups are only concerned about it now despite years of efforts shutting down the many Green Energy Alternatives to the Fourign Oil/Gas a bit ironic in a tragic kind of way.

Just another idea for "napkin math" on Oil/Natural Gas Phaseout with existing technology, and my two cents on all the USA discourse around the need for more drill permits to "solve" the issue of Energy Independence in light of Russian Oil/Gas Embargos
