WHO are you?

  • Name - Tanel Välja
  • Location (city, country) - Tallinn,Estonia
  • Contact Information (email, phone, Skype) - tanel (at) roadside (dot) ee, skype: tanel (dot) valja
  • Introductory Video -
  • Resume/CV -

WHY are you motivated to support/develop this work?

  • Do you endorse open source culture?

Absolutely, i give out most of my work for free, you can check my previous works here - http://www.grabcad.com/tanel.valja

  • Why are you interested in collaborating with us?

Because I would also like to move out of the city and start up a farm. While doing that might take 3-5 years, i can offer my CAD/engineering services to improve the project completion time.

  • How do you think that the GVCS can address pressing world issues?

The main benefit is that it takes away power from the huge corporations/banks. They control too much of the food chain and how out food is produced. If everything is given out for free, it breaks the cycle.

  • What should happen so that you become more involved with the project?

More awesomeness - i've had an idea of a portable solar tower design in the back of my head for 2 years - i have a feeling that the people here can give me the push to complete the design and diseminate it.

  • What are you missing in the project?

For the last 2-3 years ive worked as a project manager/ecommerce specialist - if nothing else, the WIKI pages should be working(alot of them are broken or just linking to empty pages - that is no way to get a good reputation)

  • What are your suggestions for improvement of the project?

Just keep doing the amazing work and more people will join in :)

WHAT

  • List all of your skills in these areas: Communications - Organizational - Computer Support - Finances - Design - Natural Building - Electronics - Automation - Metallurgy - Engineering - Fabrication - Agriculture - Energy - Architecture - Video/Graphics/Art - PR/Marketing - Education - Construction - Industry - CNC - Chemistry - Product Design - Other

Ive worked - Engineering, CNC, Energy, Product design, Very slightly with metallurgy.

  • How have you already contributed to the project?

Not yet

HOW can you help?

  • How are you interested in contributing to the work of GVCS development?

I have alot of CAD experience and I have a few crazy ideas i could not complete myself but probably could with the help of fellow crazy people :)

  • Can you volunteer to work with us, and if so, how many hours per week?

Depends on the work, depends on the week - if the project is interesting and high priority(CAD, engineering etc), then between 1 and 20 hours.

  • Are you interested in working with us for pay? If so, what services can you offer, and what is your hourly or per-project rate?

If you offer me money - great! If not then i'll do the same work.

I think that would be rather difficult.

  • Are you interested in purchasing equipment from us to help bootstrap development?

Not sure yet.

  • Are you interested in bidding for consulting/design/prototyping work?

Yes.

I never give out money to people, unless i am sure it will be used for the right cause(like the american cancer association, which pays 85% of the donations to the 2 CEO's, approximately 1.7 million dollars per year)

  • Would you like to see yourself working with us on a full-time basis?

Yes, in the future absolutely but within 2-3 years its not possible because of prior engagements.

  • Are you interested in using the technologies that we are developing directly?

Yes.

  • Are you interested in being part of the world's first, open source, resilient community? The GVCS is the preparatory step for the OSE Village Experiment - a 2 year, immersion experiment (2013-2014) for testing whether a real, thriving, modern-day prototype community of 200 people can be built on 200 acres using local resources and open access to information? We are looking for approximately 200 people to fill a diverse array of roles, according to the Social Contract that is being developed. This may be the boldest social experiment on earth - a pioneering community whose goal is to extend the index of possibilities regarding harmonious existence of humans, ecology, and technology - as a beacon of light to benefit of all people on Earth.

Yes, this is very interesting :)
