The Print Codex
Basics
- A Group/Company Whose Goal is to Provide a Service Similar to a Pantone Color Matching System but for FDM 3D Printing Filament
- Thus a designer, rather than needing to buy and test every single filament of interest can get "Sample Cards" (akin to Color Chips / Color Swatches / Paint Strips etc) of whole types of filament
- Thus can make this aspect of the design process easier and/or cheaper
Related Concepts
- Even if not buying their product, a similar system can be done, and have the same benefits short of cost savings:
- Designers should have access to Infill References , Layer Line References / Nozzle Size References
- (There are many models for these on file sharing sites like Thingiverse , Thangs , and Printables etc
- A Color Matching System is a great aspect of overall Quality Control
- Designers should have access to Infill References , Layer Line References / Nozzle Size References

- The Thingiverse Page for the Part they Print and Send
- They use the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license for this, so sadly not optimal, but all things considered great! (Especially since the main benefit isn't the file, it's them being able to have all the filaments with that cost being spread out, only need this file for the few you get, but don't have in a set etc)
