Luke Netzley is an American writer, photographer, and graduate from Cardiff University's School for Journalism. He is currently the deputy editor of Times Media Group's Pasadena Weekly and LA Downtown News publications. His career as a journalist began with an article named "The Faces of Khao San," a personal essay that explores the relationship between tourism and the sex trafficking industry in Thailand. After he was named Soroptimist International's Young Journalist of 2019/20, Luke spent two months living and working in the Sichuanese capital of Chengdu as a photographer before graduating with a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Cardiff University. In 2021, he returned to the United States and began working as a freelance journalist in Los Angeles, where he still lives today. From writing community spotlights in Santa Monica to stringing in South Central LA to interviewing the head of NASA at JPL, his mantra has been to learn by doing, and to do as much as he can.
