I retired to upper Michigan in 2001 after teaching High School shop classes for 38 years in the downriver Detroit area. I designed and built the first half of my retirement home by myself, driving every nail and screw with my own two hands. Eventually in 2016, I was able to have the last half of the house roughed in by a contractor. I've been working on finishing the inside since. I'm a bit older so the finish carpentry is going quite slowly.

At the same time I had the house roughed in, I had a two story automotive shop built as an addition to my pole barn. I made it two story so I can add a surface mount car lift to the shop and have the ability to stand up and work under vehicles. I'm getting two old to lay under cars on the cold cement.

I love restoring classic vehicles such as my 1952 Cushman Eagle motorscooter, 1956 Ford pickup, 31 Model A Roadster Hot Rod and my fleet of 5 Ariens lawn and garden tractors. I also love building and restoring farm implements and tractor accessories.
