I have no idea what to put here...an intro I guess….then without further ado I give you the intro.

I'm 31 and have been working in the technology field for 13 years. Started out doing software support for Windows 95/98 then moved into networking but decided I would be happiest writing software. The majority of my SW development projects have been full life cycle with small teams (3 to 6 people). My favorite tier or aspect of a project is working with the planning, UI/UX or front end. A few of my “hobbies” are messing with electronic and small wood working projects. I also read a lot and interests span all over the place.

My most recent electronic/building projects have been a CupCake CNC and just finished my first CNC build that is not based on RepRap’s hardware/software. I started a web based RC car project using the arduino board but got side tracked then noticed OSE. The driving force behind the RC project was remote management of land.

Just finished building and installing two 3.7x1.3m above ground garden beds. I used Used Google Sketchup to create these really cool side tables.(won't let me upload .skp files) The design is based on the main menu screen in Little Big Planet. The box thing where your characters selects the levels. They are designed in a way that you can cut the pieces using a CNC machine and fit them snugly together without glue.

The majority of my time and knowledge in software development has been towards Microsoft's technologies. The only reason for that is purely job opportunity and availability; it seemed to be a sound carrier decision. I fully endorse open source software and two home machines are running on Linux. I think is about time I build something cool with languages that endorses open source as well. Familiar with Java and Eclipse, done one small project with MySql. Familiar with MVC methodology and Ruby on Rails. There will be small learning curves for sure but nothing major.

I don’t know how to weld yet but have some basic knowledge on the types and materials. My first project is going to be something easy and fun, a disk golf goal goal.

My vision of the future is extremely optimistic compared to most peoples. I think we have the fabrication technology, knowledge of materials, and knowledge of permaculture or farming and communications capabilities to truly live a free self sustaining life WITHOUT making modern living or life style sacrifices. I think OSE and its members believe the same and are working towards elevating third world countries while freeing modern man.
